LSU could reportedly be the destination for Liberty transfer CJ Daniels.

With Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. both heading to the draft there are some holes at receiver. 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that the Tigers are expected to land Daniels, according to sources.

Daniels had a breakout season for the Flames. He led the team with 1,067 yards receiving and scored 10 touchdowns this season. Daniels also has plenty of experience, playing in 42 games from 2020-2023.

This season was Liberty’s 1st in Conference USA. Before then, the Flames had been an FBS Independent. Notre Dame, UConn, and UMass are the only Independents left in college football. Army was Independent in 2023, but is moving to the AAC in 2024.

To say that Nabers and Thomas were 2 of LSU’s top receivers would be an understatement. Nabers led LSU with 1,569 yards receiving and was one of 3 finalists for the Biletnikoff along with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Rome Odunze. Thomas was 2nd on the team with 1,177 yards receiving and led all wideouts with 17 touchdowns.

The Tigers went 10-3 in Jayden Daniels’ last season with LSU. Daniels opted out of the ReliaQuest Bowl to pursue the 2024 NFL Draft and LSU was led by Garrett Nussmeier under center. Nussmeier delivered and led LSU to a 35-31 win behind his 395 passing yards and 3 touchdowns.
