LSU has picked up a notable transfer from within the SEC. Former South Carolina edge rusher Jaylen Brown has committed to LSU, according to On3.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound Brown still has 3 years of eligibility remaining. Brown medically redshirted this season because of a knee injury he sustained in spring practice.

This is Brown’s third team in as many years after spending his first college season at Mizzou in 2024, tallying 2 sacks in limited reps during 5 games.

Coming out of high school in Alabama, Brown was regarded by 247Sports as the No. 9 in-state prospect and the nation’s No. 22 defensive lineman. Brown amassed 62 tackles, 9.0 TFLs, and 7.0 sacks as a high school senior and was selected for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.

LSU also recently signed Class of 2026 edge Trenton Henderson, with other expected returners at the position including Gabriel Reliford and Damien Shanklin. Lamar Brown is another player capable of playing at defensive end.

LSU enters a new era after firing Brian Kelly during the 2025 season and hiring former Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. LSU finished this season with a 7-6 record after a 38-35 loss vs. Houston in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl.
