LSU lost a key commitment in the class of 2024 on Sunday.

The Tigers lost 4-star cornerback Zion Ferguson, who had been committed to the program for nearly a year. He first committed to LSU back in September of 2022.

However, Ferguson flipped to North Carolina on Sunday at the end of his official visit to Chapel Hill.

Here’s his decommitment announcement:

“I want to start by thanking LSU for recruiting me over the past two years,” Ferguson wrote. “A special thank you to coach Steeples and Bobby Barham for believing in my athletic ability. After discussing with my family it is in my best interest to decommit from LSU.”

Ferguson attends Gainesville High School in Gainesville, Georgia. He’s the No. 305 overall player and the No. 26 cornerback in this class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

LSU still has 17 prospects committed in the class of 2024, including 5 who project to be defensive backs at the next level. LSU’s class currently sits at No. 8 in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Here is his commitment announcement to North Carolina:
