LSU will be heading to Nashville to take on Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30, according to multiple news outlets.
They’ll meet a Notre Dame team that started the season hot but fell apart toward the end. The Fighting Irish started out 6-0 but lost 5-of-6 games to finish the season 7-5.
LSU and Notre Dame have met 10 times, dating back to 1970; the all-time series is tied at 5-5. LSU won the last matchup in memorable fashion. JaMarcus Russell led a dominating performance over Brady Quinn and the Irish in the 2007 Sugar Bowl, with the Tigers rolling to a 41-14 victory.
The Tigers (8-4, 4-4) have been to a bowl game in each of the last 15 years, going 9-5 in their previous 14 bowl trips. No. 23 LSU will be looking to win their ninth game for the sixth consecutive year.
The Music City Bowl has been in operation since 1998. An SEC representative has played in the game in all but one year, with the conference going 7-8 in 15 appearances.
