The No. 10 LSU Tigers are gearing up for a massive SEC road test this weekend against the Kentucky Wildcats, and the availability of star quarterback Sam Leavitt is on the top of everybody’s minds in Baton Rouge.
Leavitt suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 during the Bayou Bengals’ 35-6 drubbing of Texas A&M, and played through it in Week 5 against McNeese State while being clearly limited in the run game.

The star LSU quarterback spoke to reporters on Tuesday afternoon following practice, and he told Tigers’ beat reporter Glen West that he expects to be “100% by Saturday” when asked about the hamstring injury.
Leavitt also explained to West that the injury may have been a “blessing in disguise,” as it forced him to stand in the pocket and use his arm to beat defenses instead of relying on his legs.
Per West, Leavitt believes that the past couple of weeks have shown him that he can use his legs when he has to, but not force it, and “that’s where it can be most lethal” during games.
It’s clear that Leavitt believes that his passing game has reached a new level over the past couple of weeks, and it will be interesting to see how he looks this Saturday on the road against a solid Kentucky defense.
