Caden Durham’s experience at LSU in 2025 wasn’t exactly what he envisioned. The Tigers’ offense failed to put up 30 points against FBS competition prior to the Texas Bowl. Running lanes were few and far between for Durham, whose yards per carry (4.5) was nearly a full yard less than it was in 2024 (5.4).
Things could be different in 2026 now that Lane Kiffin is in town, but Durham won’t be the beneficiary. According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Durham is entering the transfer portal. The decision comes after he had 5 carries for 0 yards in LSU’s Texas Bowl loss.
Durham, a 5-foot-9, 205-lb. runner, was the No. 88 overall player (No. 5 RB) in 247Sports’ Composite ranking of the 2024 recruiting class. He made official visits to Texas A&M, UTSA, Michigan State and Oklahoma before committing to LSU. He ran for 1,258 yards and 9 touchdowns — and made 44 receptions for 351 yards and 2 touchdowns — in his Tigers career.
If Durham still has interest in UTSA, the Roadrunners could use him to replace Robert Henry, a graduating senior who ran for 1,045 yards (on 6.9 yards per carry) in 2025. If not, his pedigree should make him a target of Power 5 and Group of 5 programs alike.
