The LSU Tigers continued to rack up the transfer portal additions Monday morning, reportedly adding Kentucky offensive tackle Derrin Strey.
247Sports reported that Strey committed to LSU after a weekend visit that included landing coveted transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt from Arizona State. Strey will have four years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-7, 322-pound Strey appeared in four games for Kentucky in 2025, and will be reunited at LSU with former offensive line coach Eric Wolford. The Paw Paw, Mich., native, was rated as the No. 32 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 6 player in the state of Michigan according to 247Sports Composite in the 2025 class.
Strey is the 26th portal addition for LSU and joins redshirt sophomore Ja’Quan Sprinkle from North Carolina Central and redshirt freshman William Satterwhite from Tennessee as the third offensive lineman in Tigers’ 2026 portal class.
LSU struggled at times under weighty expectations, finishing 7-6 including a 38-35 Texas Bowl loss to Houston. Considered a preseason College Football Playoff contender, LSU fired coach Brian Kelly in midseason and won the Lane Kiffin Sweepstakes to acquire the controversial former Ole Miss coach.
LSU opens the 2026 season Sept. 5 against Clemson at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
