The LSU Tigers, currently sporting a 3-5 record, announced that they were self-imposing a bowl ban for this season.

The Tigers would have been eligible for a bowl due to the NCAA eliminating the wins requirement to participate in postseason play during the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season.

However, the Tigers, who have suffered many opt-outs and injuries this season, have decided to take this punishment for a plethora of NCAA issues in the hopes that the organization doesn’t impose more penalties in the future.

Fans and media members, though, called into question the timing of the bowl ban. Here were some of the jokes made at the Tigers’ expense on Twitter:

We’ll see if the NCAA accepts this as a reasonable punishment for LSU, or if the organization hammers the Tigers further in the coming months/years.
