LSU to retain safeties coach Jake Olsen after initially accepting NFL job

LSU is entering a new era with Lane Kiffin at the helm in Baton Rouge, and the offseason has been spent bringing in the right people to help them compete for the SEC, as well as the College Football Playoff.
While much of the offseason has revolved around the transfer portal and bringing in the best players, Kiffin has also been aggressive in bringing in the right coaches. And, as it turns out, retaining them.
Safeties coach Jake Olsen had thought to be headed to the Washington Commanders to join the staff, but he had a change of heart and will stay at LSU.
When Kiffin first got the LSU job, he listed Olsen has one of the guys that he wanted to make sure he kept on the staff. For a while that didn’t seem like it would happen, but Olsen is going to stay put in Baton Rouge.
The Tigers didn’t have quite the season they envisioned last year, but the defense was better than they could have hoped for. Being able to keep Olsen should only help the defense stay among the nation’s best, while Kiffin looks to get the offense rolling at a championship level.
