Following years of people poking fun at them for losing season-openers and falling in big games, the LSU Tigers made sure to keep the receipts and read them off after their 17-10 win over Clemson on Saturday night.
The LSU social media team released a compilation of ESPN analysts predicting that Dabo Swinney’s squad would win the marquee Week 1 contest between the sides.
The video begins with ESPN’s Pete Thamel saying “With LSU at Clemson, what’ll we learn?”
The caption responds in kind: “We learned a lot on Saturday in Clemson, South Carolina.”
The video then pans through many TV personalities giving their takes. Paul Finebaum emphatically states that “life will get miserable for Brian Kelly very soon,” Mel Kiper Jr. said that Clemson looks better on paper and Stanford Steve explained that he likes the Bayou Bengals but couldn’t pick them to win at Clemson.
The College GameDay crew wasn’t spared either, as Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Rece Davis were all trolled for their choices. Davis specifically was focused on, as he notably poked fun at LSU’s preparation for the game and highlighted the difficulties of playing in that Death Valley.
But in the end, the video closes with the final score being shown and Garrett Nussmeier & Co. celebrating on the field.
