LSU added a big-time defensive line prospect to its 2026 recruiting class on Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers have earned a commitment from DeAnthony Lafayette, who chose LSU over programs such as Oklahoma, Miami, Florida, Pittsburgh and plenty more.

He shared the news of his commitment with Hayes Fawcett:

Lafayette is a big addition for the Tigers. He’s regarded as a 3-star prospect and is the No. 74 edge in the country for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

However, he could be due for a ranking increase in the coming months after picking up offers from programs like LSU, Oklahoma, Miami and Florida since the start of April. It’s possible Lafayette could earn 4-star status before the end of the cycle.

Lafayette attends Lake Nona High School in Orlando, Fla. He’s listed at 6-foot-1, 230 pounds. He took trips to LSU, Oklahoma and Miami before making this commitment.

Lafayette is LSU’s second commitment of the day, joining 5-star defensive lineman Lamar Brown. The Tigers now have 16 commitments in the class of 2026 and the No. 7-ranked class nationally, per 247Sports Composite.
