Former Tennessee punter Dustin Colquitt was on the wrong end of a momentum-changing play early in the Houston Texans-Kansas City Chiefs Divisional Round playoff game on Sunday.
Former LSU star Barkevious Mingo blocked Colquitt’s punt, and former Kentucky star Lonnie Johnson scooped it up and returned the ball 10 yards for a touchdown to give Houston a 14-0 lead with 10:06 left in the first quarter.
Mingo, who was among the players Houston received from Seattle in the Jadeveon Clowney trade, made that trade almost worthwhile with that play alone. Houston, which had been a slow starter recently, was off to a great start.
The Texans, who had to escape the Buffalo Bills last week in overtime, may be on to a rout at Kansas City, where the wind chill was reportedly below 20 degrees at kickoff.
Before the end of the first quarter, Houston tacked on another score for a 21-0 lead, with just 1:21 remaining.
And just like that, Barkevious Mingo with a huge play — he blocks Dustin Colquitt’s punt, Lonnie Johnson scoops it up and runs it in for a TD. Texans lead 14-0. pic.twitter.com/GoPsTTdBF7
