Missouri fans will want to pay attention to the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers because they’ll see 2 of their favorite recent players to play for the Tigers.
Chargers RB Larry Rountree III and Kansas City Chiefs LB Nick Bolton will meet this week after they were 2 of 5 Mizzou players selected in the 2021 NFL Draft, which matched the best draft class for the program since 2015.
โ[This is] kind of one of the lifetime things we talked about since we were in college,โ Bolton said, per the Kansas City Star. โWe went against each other every single day, made each other better. … I know what [Rountree] brings to the table week in and week out, so Iโm excited to play against him.โ
For Rountree, he’s grateful.
โItโs just a blessing,โ Rountree said. โAll the hard work we put in, now itโs our job, so we just got to keep working. The NFL is an industry of earned, itโs not an industry of oh well weโre gonna keep you for four years like college. Itโs more so you gotta earn your right to stay.โ
Bolton has started both of the games this season, and Rountree is learning to pick up the speed in the NFL.
โItโs been great to honestly just play and learn more from the game and actually get coached up on things I can get better on and focus on those little things,โ Rountree said. โI know throughout this year and years going on and me playing in the NFL that Iโll get better at those things and hopefully youโll be looking at a Hall of Famer or at a 1,000-yard rusher.โ
