Mansoor Delane and the LSU defense sent a message to the country with their performance in LSU’s 17-10 win against Clemson in Week 1. The defense has been an issue for the Tigers the past few seasons, but the team delivered in a big way on Saturday night.
There wasn’t a player who stood out more for the Tigers than Mansoor Delane, who was playing his first game at LSU after spending his first 3 years at Virginia Tech.
He finished the game with 2 tackles and 1 interception, and he was named the Chuck Bednarik Player of the Week for his performance.
Delone was a key contributor during his time at Virginia Tech, as he finished with 146 tackles and 6 interceptions. Last season was his best year, as he finished with 54 tackles and 4 interceptions.
LSU entered the season with high expectations to compete for a national title, but it is the offense that has gotten a lot of that talk. If Delane and the Tigers defense can play close to a level that they did on Saturday night, then the Tigers will absolutely be in the title conversation.
Up next for Delane and the Tigers is a home game against Louisiana Tech on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET.
