Mansoor Delane will be playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, who traded up from No. 9 to No. 6 to nab the former LSU centerback during the 2026 NFL Draft. He was the first SEC player taken off the board.

There’s no doubt that Delane will be taking plenty of time to get to know his teammates as he integrates himself into the group. It doesn’t hurt that a member of that group is a three-time Super Bowl champion, a two-time NFL MVP, and one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

So what would Delane ask Patrick Mahomes first?

“How are you great the way you’re great?” Delane said in his post-selection press conference on Thursday night. “I think I want to learn from just every type of person I get around, the best to do it. I just want to take a little something from them.”

For Delane, there are certainly worse people to learn from than Mahomes, who is known for his elite work ethic and his intense focus on physical fitness.

“(I want) just to be able to pick his brain, the way he takes care of his body, or the way he approaches the game,” Delane said. “It doesn’t have to be because he plays offense, but there’s a reason the way he’s great the way he is. So I want to try to mock that.”
