The Texas A&M Aggies, following an 11-0 start to the 2025 season, have lost five of their last eight games. Their lone win over an SEC foe in that time came against lowly Arkansas. Beyond that, they’ve been outscored 93-33 in their three conference losses this year.
It’s obvious something is wrong in College Station. Fans can point to the scheme if they so choose, but quarterback Marcel Reed isn’t dodging the smoke. After the Aggies’ 27-6 loss to Missouri, he attributed Texas A&M’s woes to a lack of execution.
“It takes 11 people to complete a football play,” Reed said. “The average football play is six seconds. If we can execute what we need to do, we’d be the best team in the country. But we are not doing that right now.”

Reed has eclipsed 200 passing yards in just one of the Aggies’ five games against Power 4 competition. He completed fewer than 50% of his passes (19/39) for 187 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday’s 27-6 loss to the Tigers. Texas A&M’s running backs combined for only 47 yards on 16 carries (2.9 YPC) to aid Reed’s arm.
To make matters worse, Mike Elko’s defense hasn’t fared much better. The Aggies have yielded at least 150 rushing yards in all three of their SEC defeats and coughed up a whopping 252 yards on the ground to Mizzou. A matchup with The Citadel in Week 7 serves as a get-right opportunity before a trip to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama in Week 8.
