South Carolina is still working to name a starting quarterback to open the season since Luke Doty suffered a foot injury.

Offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield said he’s like to know who the starter will be ASAP, regardless of when it’s announced.

“The remainder of this week into the weekend, the scrimmage, the situations, how people are handling it,” Satterfield said. “The tempo of how we’re getting in and out of our huddles. Our tempo is going to be crucial, whoever does that the best. We’re not looking for someone to go out and try to win the Heisman Trophy. We’re looking for someone to get the play, communicate the play, execute the play with good tempo, take care of the ball, and make sure that all of the skill guys that we have on our unit are able to showcase their talents.”

The players competing for the starting job are Jason Brown, Connor Jordan, Colten Gauthier and Zeb Noland.
