Mark Ingram crushes Dave Portnoy for Vanderbilt ‘love fest’ before Texas game: ‘You don’t know ball’
Mark Ingram had enough of Fox Big Noon Kickoff colleague Dave Portnoy and his constant “love fest” for upstart Vanderbilt, so when the Commodores fell behind at Texas at halftime on Saturday afternoon, the former Alabama star running back went off.
Not at Vanderbilt for its poor play, which resulted in a 24-10 halftime deficit in Austin in the huge SEC showdown on ABC. Ingram went after Portnoy, and it wasn’t pretty. The Bama legend and 2009 Heisman Trophy winner was tired of Portnoy constantly crediting Vanderbilt, which has had a dream season, rising to No. 9 in the rankings.
But that dream appeared to be wearing off quickly on Saturday against the 20th-ranked Longhorns and Arch Manning, who was lighting up the Vandy secondary.
“Dave is part of the reason why this love fest is over,” Ingram said. “You keep betting on Vandy. Keep betting on Diego Pavia. This love fest is over, Dave. You don’t know ball … I know ball.”
Here is the clip of the normally mild-mannered Ingram getting a little heated:
Ingram must have been growling a little more during the 3rd quarter, too, because things were getting worse for Vanderbilt in Austin. Manning tossed his 3rd touchdown pass of the afternoon to give Texas a 31-10 lead, and it appeared that the rout was on and the luster was wearing off for Portnoy’s favorite SEC team.
