Mark Pope and Kentucky continue to ride an up-and-down trajectory down the stretch of the regular season. On Saturday, Pope also confirmed that one key player will be done for the rest of the season.
Facing No. 1 Auburn, the Wildcats were blown out with a 94-78 defeat at home. Kentucky is now .500 in the deep SEC at 8-8 overall, but the larger story from this game involves Jaxson Robinson.
The 2nd-leading scorer for the Wildcats missed time but returned to the court on Feb. 26 against Oklahoma. However, he was not available on Saturday, and Pope confirmed that the star guard will undergo season-ending surgery on his wrist injury.
According to Pope, the final decision on Robinson’s season came Friday night, and the head coach revealed he will get the surgery on his wrist on Wednesday:

It goes without saying, but that is a massive loss for the Wildcats with some big games looming in the postseason. Robinson started 24 games for Mark Pope’s squad this season, and he was a key 3-point shooter at 37.6% from beyond the arc.
Robinson was 1 of 3 Kentucky players to average 12+ points per game, and he was the 2nd-leading scorer behind Otega Oweh at 13 points per game. Now, the Wildcats will try and replace that production any way they can moving forward.
