Mark Stoops put out a statement very early Sunday morning, at 1:02 a.m., after multiple reports had the Kentucky coach linked to the opening at Texas A&M.
Stoops is in his 11th season at Kentucky and put out this statement less than 12 hours after the Wildcats’ upset victory over No. 10 Louisville to give the Wildcats a 5th straight win in the series.
“I know thereโs been much speculation about me and my job situation the last couple of days,” Stoops wrote on social media. “Itโs true I was contacted about a potential opportunity this weekend, but after celebrating a big win against our rivals with players I love like family, I knew in my heart I couldnโt leave the University of Kentucky right now. I have a great job at a place I love, and I get to work with the best administration and greatest fan base in college football right where Iโm at. Iโm excited to say Iโm a Wildcat!”

Stoops has led Kentucky to a golden era of success in the program’s history. UK (7-5, 4-4 SEC) is headed to a bowl game for a school-record 8th consecutive season under Stoops. The last time Kentucky enjoyed a stretch of at least 8 straight winning seasons was from 1946 to 1956.
