Heading into Kentucky’s Week 3 matchup vs. Eastern Michigan, head coach Mark Stoops offered an update on the quarterback plans. Seventh-year quarterback Zach Calzada exited Kentucky’s 30-23 loss last Saturday vs. Ole Miss with what appeared to be an injury on his throwing shoulder.

During media availability, Stoops said he’s still uncertain of Calzada’s status, who missed Monday’s practice.

“I’m not sure,” Stoops said. “Will not practice today.”

Calzada went 15-for-30 with 149 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions prior to leaving he game. This season, Calzada has passed for 234 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception.

“Has to get himself healthy and get himself back out there as soon as he can,” Stoops said. “He’ll be fine.”

Freshman Cutter Boley, who has completed 1 of his 3 passes this season for 38 yards. would be the next man up if Calzada can’t start. Yet Stoops isn’t making that determination yet, despite confirming that he’ll see action regardless.

“I’m not going to comment on that. I’m excited to see Cutter,” Stoops said. “You know I say that about every position… Don’t overblown that for a QB. I’m excited to see Cutter, and Cutter will absolutely play.”

Eastern Michigan at Kentucky is slated for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff (ESPNU).
