Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule isn’t afraid to speak his mind. On Monday, while speaking after the Huskers’ loss to Oregon on Saturday, Rhule accused of SEC schools of going after and tampering with Nebraska’s quarterback, Anthony Colandrea.
“I donโt think thatโs a good narrative for us to have out there that he doesnโt have enough support (around him),” Rhule said. “I donโt think thatโs good for our players. And not good because heโs already got SEC schools calling him. I donโt want Nebraska people to start saying that, because thatโs happened before here. We donโt need that now here.”
Colandrea has been very good for the Cornhuskers, throwing for 1,570 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions, while helping the Cornhuskers get off to a 5-0 start. What makes him such a problem for opposing defenses is his ability to also make plays with his legs. He has rushed for 334 yards and four more touchdowns.
He started his career at Virginia, where he spent the first two seasons of his career. During his time there, he had 4,073 yards, 26 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
In 2025, he transferred to UNLV and put together by far his best college season with 3,459 yards, 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has continued to improve on limiting turnovers, while becoming one of the biggest big-play quarterbacks in college football.
There is still a lot of season to go for the Cornhuskers, but he does figure to be a hot commodity after the season.
