Miami had a rough ending to the 2024 regular season, losing at Syracuse and finishing just out of the College Football Playoff field. Now, the Hurricanes have taken another hit for 2025.
Sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Horton has signed the necessary papers to enter the transfer portal, he told On3Sports on Monday morning. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Horton was Miami’s 2nd-leading pass catcher this fall with 56 receptions, and he was 3rd on the team in receiving yards with 616 to go with 5 touchdowns.
Horton will have 2 years of eligibility left beginning next fall at whatever school is fortunate enough to get him. Horton has 70 catches for 790 yards and 6 touchdowns, averaging 11.3 yards per catch, during his 3-year collegiate career.
The Murfreesboro, Tenn., product was a 4-star talent coming out of high school in the 2022 class. According to the 247Sports Composite Ranking, he was the 244th-ranked overall prospect in the class, the 38th-ranked wide receiver and the 9th-ranked player from the state of Tennessee.
Getting Horton to Coral Gables wasn’t easy, either. Horton chose Miami over powerhouse programs such as Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. Now, after a very productive 2024 season from Horton, the Hurricanes will have to replace his production in 2025.
