By now you know Mike Anderson is officially out at Arkansas following his team’s NIT loss to Indiana. During his time in Fayetteville, Anderson had a 169-102 record, with a 78-64 league mark. He never led the Razorbacks to a losing season.
However, while he can’t say Anderson lost too much, it was fair to say he didn’t win enough to please many in the Arkansas fan base. That’s exactly what Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek cited for deciding to move on from Anderson, he failed to put the school in a position to win many league and NCAA championships.
“After a review of the program, including an analysis of the past eight years and a look forward, I have made a decision that a change in leadership will best position our men’s basketball program for future success. In the past eight seasons, we have won a number of games and have made appearances in both the NIT and the NCAA Tournaments.
“However, in my evaluation, we have not sustained a consistent level of success against the most competitive teams in the nation to enable us to compete for SEC and NCAA championships on an annual basis. That will continue to be the benchmark for our success throughout our athletic program.”
Following the news, Anderson released the following video statement thanking his supporters and saying goodbye to Arkansas one last time:
