Dalton Knecht had a rough go of it in Los Angeles with the Lakers.
The former Tennessee star played sparingly in Los Angeles during his rookie season and spent most of last year on the bench. Knecht was signed by the New York Knicks in October, a desperately needed fresh start heading into his 3rd season in the NBA.
Knecht made the most of his Knicks debut Wednesday night, shooting 4-for-6 from the field for 10 points with 7 rebounds, 1 block and zero turnovers across 16 minutes of action.
Following the game, Knicks head coach Mike Brown spoke highly of New York’s latest addition and made a pretty hilarious comment regarding Knecht’s playstyle.
“”He’s a scorer, not just a shooter,” Brown said. “A lot of people think he’s a shooter… cause he’s white. I said it for you. I hope I don’t get in trouble… but he can go get it. He can shoot from range, he’s got a medium game, he can get to the rim… I thought tonight he tried to play within himself.”
Here’s the highlight play of Knecht’s debut, a putback slam off a missed 3-point attempt by Jalen Brunson. He also hit a pair of 3’s and swished a midrange shot off the dribble.
