Mike Elko and Texas A&M entered Saturday’s game against Mizzou looking to bounce back from two consecutive losses. However, things went from bad to worse as the Aggies lost once again at Missouri, 27-6 in a game where the Aggies were physically dominated.
Missouri rushed the ball 44 times for 252 yards, while Texas A&M rushed the ball 23 times for 29 yards. Quarterback Marcel Reed also struggled, finishing 19-of-39 for 187 yards and two interceptions.
After the game, Elko was asked if he where the team’s confidence is right now, and Elko didn’t mince his words.
“Does this look confident to you?”
The Aggies are coming off an appearance in the College Football Playoff and were looked at as a team that could potentially compete for a spot this year. The offense has struggled throughout the season, but Elko is a defense-minded coach. For his team to allow Jamal Roberts to run the ball 34 times for 222 yards and two touchdowns is something that had him extra frustrated heading into that press conference.
Texsa A&M does go out of conference next week to play The Citadel, but a road game in two weeks at Alabama is looming.
