Mike Elko compares SEC/LSU expulsion talks to ‘a little bit of parenting’

College football fans across the land have thought the LSU Tigers needed checked. The university ran roughshod all offseason, from its pursuits of Lane Kiffin and Will Wade (one could argue) to its efforts to add former professional athletes to their sports teams. The SEC finally did check the Tigers over the past month, drawing an analogy from Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Elko.
According to On3’s Carter Karels, Elko compared the SEC raising its hand toward LSU to a parent disciplining a rogue child.
“This is a little bit like the son figuring out where the limits are until dad comes home and raises his voice, and then the son goes, ‘I was just kidding, I didnโt mean any of that,'” Elko said. “I think thatโs what youโre seeing. LSU will be in the SEC… This is just a little bit of parenting going on right now.”
Non-LSU fans in the comment section thoroughly enjoyed Elko’s commentary. The Tiger supporters encouraged Elko to keep the same energy when Texas A&M and LSU play one another later this month.
Last season, the Aggies went into Death Valley and throttled the Tigers 49-25. LSU began its process of firing head coach Brian Kelly the next day. This year, Texas A&M and Elko battle LSU and Lane Kiffin on Saturday, Sept. 26.
