Details of Mike Elko‘s new contract with Texas A&M emerged on Monday evening.

Multiple media outlets published details of Elko’s new deal after Texas A&M fulfilled open records requests on Monday. Per reporting from GigEm247’s Carter Karels, Elko’s contract extension is for 6 years and is worth $69 million.

That annual salary puts Elko among the highest-paid coaches in all of college football.

According to documents reviewed by the Houston Chronicle’s Brian Davis, Elko’s new agreement with Texas A&M will pay him a base salary of $10.75 million in 2026. That salary rises to $12.25 million in the 6th and final year of the agreement.

Additionally, Elko will automatically earn a 1-year extension for a 9-win season or College Football Playoff appearance.

Per Travis Brown, Elko’s contract also includes a clause that guarantees NIL investment that is “comparable” with SEC program that made the CFP in the prior season. Meetings about NIL budget are also scheduled to take place on June 1 and December 1 each calendar year, per the contract:

Elko is set to enter his third season with the program in 2026. He’s led Texas A&M to a 19-7 overall record, including an 11-0 start to the 2025 campaign.
