Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies look to remain undefeated as they take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Week 6. The Bulldogs aren’t the same team they have been the past few years, as they enter this game at 4-1. They were nearly undefeated entering this game, but lost to Tennessee last week, 41-34 in overtime.

One area that has made Mississippi State tough this year is its offense. The Bulldogs are being physical and running the ball, and Elko said that their spread offense is very difficult to stop.

“Their spread offense is something I’ve compared it a lot this week to the modern version of the triple option,” Mike Elko told reporters. “They spread you sideline to sideline… It’s a challenge. They force you to cover the whole field, vertically and horizontally.”

The Aggies moved to 4-0 last week, and it was the best game they have played on defense as they defeated Auburn, 16-10. Elko and his defensive staff are looking to build off that game, and continue its strong play as the Aggies get deeper into SEC play. Being able to win a low-scoring, defensive type of game shows this team is capable of winning in many different games. With games against elite defenses like Texas and LSU later in the season, the Aggies have to be able to win low-scoring games if they are going to be a true contender to make it to the College Football Playoff.

Kickoff between the two teams is at 7:30 p.m. ET and the game will be on the SEC Network.
