Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy is well known for his interactions with reporters, and he’s had a couple of doozies lately.
After the Cowboys lost against Texas on Saturday, Gundy was asked about a narrative that spread on social media that he should have tried a different play on a short-yardage situation, he replied, “Do you think I give a rat’s ass about social media?”
On Monday, he was asked on a Big 12 media conference call about a rumor that Oklahoma State booster T. Boone Pickens, who died recently, left him a gift card for a haircut.
“Don’t hurt the real journalism world,” Gundy said. “It’s jackasses like you that cause problems, OK? They shouldn’t even let you call in. Do you want to talk football, we’ll talk football. If you want to be out there and talk idiotic social media, then you need to go do something with a college kid.”
The reporter replied, “OK, thank you.”
Gundy replied, “You bet.”
Oklahoma State, which is 3-1, plays host to Kansas State this week.
