Mississippi State rolled to a 56-7 victory against visiting East Tennessee State in Week 12 on Saturday.

Sunday, Bulldogs coach Mike Leach selected his Players of the Game and shouted them out on Twitter.

Nick Jones is “The Bone”, while Jet Johnson is “Tough Man”, Tulu Griffin and Emmanuel Forbes are “The Mechanics”, and for “Special Teams” Leach went with Avery Sledge.

Johnson led Mississippi State with 9 tackles. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker has collected 37 solo tackles during his senior season.

Forbes recorded an interception that he took to the house for an 82-yard pick-6. Forbes also had 2 pass deflections and 2 tackles. The 6-foot, 180-pound junior cornerback has 16 solo tackles, 6 interceptions, and 9 pass deflections.

Sledge had one tackle in the victory. It was the first game of the season for the 6-foot-3, 210-pound freshman linebacker.

Next up for Mississippi State is the Egg Bowl against in-state rival Ole Miss. The Rebels lead the all-time series 64-45-6 with back-to-back wins in the series. The last victory for Mississippi State in the series was a 21-20 win in Starkville in 2019.

The Egg Bowl is slated for Thursday at 7 p.m. ET from Ole Miss and will be televised on ESPN.
