Florida State is off to a 1-1 start this season during Mike Norvell’s seventh year at the helm. The Seminoles haven’t had a winning season since going 13-1 in 2023 and the hot seat is getting increasingly warmer for Norvell.

So much so that there’s now speculation of boxes and a cargo truck outside of his home. However, during his most recent media availability, Norvell claims he’s unaware of the sighting.

“What is at my house? Is that online? Oh, that’s awesome. I don’t look a whole lot online. All of our focus is on this team and that’s where I live. There can be plenty of speculation. There can be plenty of things that are out there,” Norvell said. “I get the opportunity to show up every day. Bring the right attitude, bring the right mentality, bring the right work. Pouring into this team, pouring into these players. I believe in that.”

This is swirling in the wake of Florida State firing its athletic director Michael Alford. Norvell is attempting to remain positive while he’s still the head coach for however long that may be.

“There’s been disappointing results. I’ve never sat here and tried to make an excuse, not once since I’ve been here to say: ‘Oh well let me tell you why.’ I don’t do that. That’s not it. This is a result-oriented business,” Norvell said. “Our results have not been as good as we want them to be but I believe in the process. I believe in the work. I believe in the players I get to coach and we get to go be better.”

Florida State is coming off a 27-24 loss vs. SMU and will take on host Alabama on Saturday. Despite Norvell having a massive buyout, an ugly loss vs. the Crimson Tide could be the last straw.
