Mike White’s contract terms with Georgia basketball revealed

Mike White hopped from one struggling SEC program to another, but looks for a fresh start with the Georgia Bulldogs starting in 2022.
And on Tuesday, White’s contract details were released. The terms are as follows, per Seth Emerson of the Athletic:
- Georgia paid $1.3 million directly to Florida to help White’s buyout.
- White’s contract with the Bulldogs runs through the 2027-2028 season.
- His base and supplemental salary begins at $3.4 million, and goes up to $3.9 million the final year.
The Bulldogs fired head coach Tom Crean after a few dismal years at the head of the program. His latest iteration was his least impressive, finishing the regular season 6-26 and suffering a throttling by Vanderbilt in the 1st round of the SEC Tournament.
White, on the other hand, did not meet Florida’s expectations in his 7 years in Gainesville. He cracked the Elite 8 in his 2nd year and has failed to advance past the 2nd round since, finishing the 2021 season 20-14 with a 2nd round loss to Xavier in the NCAA Tournament.
Still, a breath of fresh air is just what both programs need, especially for the Bulldogs. Georgia has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2015 and has not won an NCAA Tournament contest since 2002, downing Murray State as a 3-seed.
