Mississippi State AD: Bulldogs will be ‘as competitive as we need’ to retain Kamario Taylor

Mississippi State athletic director Zac Selmon isn’t interested in seeing quarterback Kamario Taylor walk this offseason — but he understands the reality of the current era of college football.
Taylor is a star in the making with special arm talent and an improved feel for the game entering his first full year as a starter. You’d better believe big-name programs around the country are ready to open up the pocketbook for a difference maker like the MSU QB the second the transfer bell sounds.
This week, while speaking with On3’s Andy Staples, Selmon mentioned that — if it comes to it — the Bulldogs won’t be going down without a fight.
“I’m never surprised by the craziness that goes on,” Selmon said, via On3. “We’re going to be as competitive as we need to be.”
We may be getting ahead of ourselves, though.
According to On3’s Chris Low, Taylor has no intention to leave Starkville any time soon. In a post on X Thursday morning, Low explained that Taylor could have chased a bag this past offseason but decided not to. The Macon, Mississippi native, according to Low, is “immersed in Maroon.”
Taylor is perhaps the most enthralling quarterback in college football right now, and there’s so much of his story still to be written. What else do he and the Bulldogs have to show us this year?
