Mississippi State cashes in on Alabama fumble to narrow deficit

Mississippi State turned a huge opportunity into a huge touchdown response to cut Alabama‘s first-half lead back to a touchdown at 21-14 on Saturday in Starkville.

With the 7th-ranked Crimson Tide taking a 21-7 lead and on the verge of blowing out the 16th-ranked Bulldogs on their home field, Bama running back Daniel Hill fumbled for the second time in the game.

Hill’s first fumble didn’t result in a turnover, but his second one did, and it set Mississippi State up beautifully at the Alabama 11-yard line, with the Bulldogs desperate for a score.

All it took for that desperation to turn into a potential game-saving touchdown was 1 play, with quarterback Kamario Taylor finding Zion Ragins on an 11-yard touchdown strike with 9:09 left before halftime to pull Mississippi State just a little closer.

It was the second time on Saturday that Mississippi State found itself down by 14 points, and both times the Bulldogs managed to reel the Tide back in with a touchdown to get back within 7 points.
