Mississippi State doubles down, trolls Johnny Knoxville and Pat McAfee after Mizzou triumph
The Mississippi Bulldogs didn’t wait long to troll the Missouri Tigers and head coach Eli Drinkwitz following their 31-24 victory on Saturday night. Their troll on ESPN analyst Pat McAfee and College GameDay guest picker Johnny Knoxville took a bit longer to execute, but it wound up just as legendary.
On Saturday’s episode of College GameDay, Knoxville said he’d “punish himself by listening to Pat McAfee’s new album on repeat until Halloween” if the Tigers lost to the Bulldogs. McAfee, who picked Mississippi State to win, caught a stray in both the moment and the troll as the school’s social media team played his music over some of their highlights.
McAfee joined Nick Saban and Desmond Howard in picking Mississippi State to beat Missouri. The Bulldogs’ triumph ended a 14-game losing streak to ranked opponents. Head coach Jeff Lebby’s team is now 4-0 for the second consecutive season, something Mississippi State’s program hadn’t accomplished since the 1944-45 campaigns.
The Bulldogs, who are set to rise in the AP poll, host the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 5. Kamario Taylor and Keelon Russell facing off with cowbells in the background is a peak college football matchup that fans can watch on Saturday at noon ET (ABC).
