Mississippi State scored a big recruiting win on Monday night, landing a pledge from former Stanford commit Devontray Brewer. The 3-star linebacker prospect originally committed to Stanford on June 2 and flipped following an official visit to Starkville on June 19.
Brewer hails from Tupelo high school in Tupelo, Mississippi and stands at 6-foot-1, 225 pounds. In addition to Mississippi State and Stanford, Brewer also held offers from Michigan, Ole Miss and Arkansas, to name a few.
“Thereโs no better ball than the SEC, so this is an honor and privilege to be able to play in the league and suit up for the Bulldogs,” Brewer told MSU writer Robbie Faulk of his commitment.
Brewer is the 15th commitment of the 2027 cycle for Mississippi State, also considered to be the third-ranked prospect in the Bulldogs’ class behind only 4-star RB Christian Alexander and 3-star ATH Yoshawn Hudson. Finally, he’s the second linebacker pledge alongside 3-star Louisville, Mississippi native Ayden Coleman.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brewer is considered to be the No. 767 overall prospect in the 2027 class, as well as the No. 64 linebacker and the No. 20 prospect out of the state of Mississippi.
