This isn’t the news any college football program wants to hear, but it tends to happen more often around this time of the year than at any other. Now it’s Mississippi State’s turn to deal with some bad news as receiver Reggie Todd was arrested recently in Starkville.

This news was first reported by Will Sammon of the Clarion-Ledger and has been confirmed by the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office website. Todd has been charged with simple assault.

The rising redshirt sophomore appeared in 13 games last season for the Bulldogs and registered 14 catches for 160 yards. A member of Mississippi State’s 2016 signing class, Todd was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, signing with the Bulldogs over Cincinnati, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech.
