The Missouri Tigers have generated plenty of momentum on the recruiting trail thanks to their 5-0 start to the season, and the program received more good news Sunday.

Following his visit to Columbia for the Tigers’ matchup with South Carolina on Sept. 20, 4-star edge Micah Nickerson announced that he would be flipping his commitment from Mississippi State to Eli Drinkwitz‘s Mizzou squad.

The Magnolia, Mississippi-product had been committed to the in-state Bulldogs since he visited in late June, but Mizzou was among a host of schools that continued to pursue Nickerson as his recruitment heated up this fall.

His imposing 6-foot-5 frame is what largely prompted schools like Missouri, Mississippi State, Virginia and Tulane to extend offers, and Nickerson’s production and film has backed it up.

Playing for 4A South Pike High School in Magnolia, Nickerson has already registered a handful of multi-sack games this season. Few teams at that level are capable of handling an athlete who has also contributed to the school’s many powerlifting state titles.

Nickerson has also scored two touchdowns, one of which came via a traditional scoop-and-score while the other was a game-tying touchdown grab in which he had to lay out to grab a tipped ball as time expired. While primarily a disruptive edge rusher, Nickerson has lined up at tight end frequently throughout his high school career.

It has been reported that Nickerson will not formally sign until the official Signing Day, so Jeff Lebby and plenty of other coaching staffs still have chances to flip Nickerson again.
