The hole in Missouri’s 2015 non-conference schedule just got smaller.

Not long after warning the fan base that the Tigers were unlikely to schedule a power conference team in 2015, Missouri on Thursday announced it has added American Athletic Conference member Connecticut in a home-and-home series.

The Tigers now have one non-conference slot left to fill for next season. The team also is scheduled to host Southeast Missouri State, an FCS school, and two non-power conference FBS teams in Connecticut and Arkansas State (in Jonesboro, Ark.).

In 2017, Missouri now is scheduled to play Purdue an UConn, with two non-conference matchups yet to be announced.

โ€œOne of the most challenging aspects of conference realignment has involved football scheduling, and reconstructing things after we moved to the SEC,” executive associate athletic director Bryan Maggard said in a statement Thursday.ย “Weโ€™re getting really close to having 2015 taken care of and being able to move on to future schedules, so thatโ€™s very exciting.”
