Mizzou reportedly earned a commitment from one of the most experienced safeties in the transfer portal on Sunday: Jalen Catalon of UNLV.
Catalon has previous experience in the SEC, as he began his collegiate career at Arkansas. He also spent the 2023 season at Texas when the Longhorns were in their final Big 12 season.
On3’s Pete Nakos was first to report the news of Catalon’s commitment on Sunday morning.
Catalon initially signed with the Razorbacks as a 4-star recruit back in the class of 2019. The 2025 season will be his 7th season of college football. He redshirted in 2019, received a blanket waiver for the 2020 season due to COVID-19 and took a medical redshirt in 2022 due to a season-ending injury.
Catalon is coming off of a career year with the Rebels. He posted 96 tackles, 2 sacks, 5 interceptions, 4 pass deflections and 1 forced fumble while helping UNLV compete for the Mountain West title with Boise State.
Jalen Catalon joins a Mizzou team that will be hoping to maintain its growth over the past couple of seasons under Eli Drinkwitz. The Tigers have put up back-to-back double-digit win campaigns, but will have to replace a lot of key pieces in 2025. Catalon will help in those efforts.
Catalon is the 15th transfer to commit to Mizzou so far this offseason. The Tigers’ class ranks No. 10 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
Catalon has 1 season of eligibility remaining.
