Mizzou DL Sterling Webb granted TRO against NCAA, will be eligible for 2026

Missouri defensive lineman Sterling Webb has been granted a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the NCAA and will be eligible for the upcoming 2026 season, according to a report from PowerMizzou’s Cody Goodwin.
Webb was one of several athletes to request a judge for a 5th year of eligibility following the adoption of a new age-based eligibility model, better known as the 5-in-5 model. This new model allows student-athletes to play 5 seasons across 5 years of eligibility, replacing the 4-in-5 model.
Webb will be a member of the Tigers football program when Mizzou starts fall camp soon, according to Katie Kull of St. Louis Today. According to Kull, UM System Board of Curators member Bob Blitz said that Webb, “will be at practice on Monday.”
Webb, as you can probably tell given the nature of Thursday’s ruling, has played 4 seasons of college football. He spent his first 2 seasons with New Mexico State and transferred to Mizzou at the start of the 2024 season. Across his college career, Webb has totaled 85 tackles with 8 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.
Webb served as a reserve defensive lineman for the Tigers in 2024 and 2025, but made an impact as a senior by posting 20 tackles and 2 sacks. He’ll be a welcome late addition among the Tigers’ defensive line for 2026.
Mizzou kicks off its 2026 season on Thursday, September 3 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
