It was fun while it lasted.

Missouri, which entered the season ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 22 in the Amway Coaches Poll, crept up to No. 18/19 entering Saturday’s game against Indiana.

But the Tigers (3-1) lost, 31-27, on a late fourth-quarter touchdown run.

It’s the first time the AP Poll hasn’t included Missouri since Sept. 29 of last year. Missouri, 5-0 at the time, entered the poll at No. 25 on Oct. 6, 2013, and made 14 consecutive AP Top 25s.

Mizzou’s path to rejoin the Top 25 is simple, at least for now. Win at South Carolina and it’s likely the Tigers will rejoin the poll. Missouri plays the Gamecocks on Saturday in the other Columbia looking for revenge from last season’s overtime loss, the only loss of the regular season.

There are eight SEC teams ranked in the polls. Other than Missouri, the other unranked conference members are Arkansas, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
