Missouri waited 19 long years to entertain its arch nemesis on the field again.
During that time period (minus 2024), the Kansas basketball program did enough damage to the Tigers’ psyche that all their fan base could think about is when the two sides would square off on the gridiron for the 121st time.
That lengthy wait came to a climactic end on Saturday, when the Jayhawks marched into Columbia to rekindle a passion-filled series.
And the game delivered everything one could have hoped for, with an early 15-point Kansas lead being erased before a 63-yard Jamal Roberts touchdown scamper put the cherry on top of a 42-31 win for the home side.
Given its status as one of the top journalism schools in the nation, the University of Missouri has also generally featured a social media presence that is rivaled by few. The football program follows that trend, and as it has done for years now, the Tigers’ social media page dropped an 11-minute cinematic recap of its recent victory:
The video goes in-depth to feature pregame festivities, locker room speeches, in-game highlights and postgame reactions from players and coaches.
The series record now stands at 58-54-9 in favor of MU…at least, according to the Tigers.
Up next, Mizzou continues its six-game homestand to begin the season when it welcomes Louisiana to town at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday. Given the fact that the Ragin’ Cajuns lost to Rice by a score of 14-12 in Week 1, it’s reasonable to expect that next week’s mini movie will be less suspenseful.
