Mizzou got some big news on the recruiting trail to kick off the week as the Tigers landed a key commitment from a talented defender. Linebacker Josiah Trotter announced his decision to leave West Virginia for Missouri on Monday night. Trotter is the son of former NFL star Jeremiah Trotter.

“I’m home Mizzou,” he posted on social media.

Trotter spent the 2024 season with West Virginia and racked up 93 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 1 interception. Trotter’s father Jeremiah had a 12-year NFL career and earned a spot in the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame. Jeremiah was also an LB and collected over 900 tackles in his NFL career.

In high school, Trotter was rated as a 3-star prospect per the 247Sports Composite ranking. The ranking had Trotter as the No. 44 linebacker and the No. 9 prospect out of Pennsylvania in the 2023 class. The younger Trotter chose West Virginia over Clemson, Maryland, Notre Dame, and others.

After 1 season with the Mountaineers, Trotter will now look to play elsewhere with 3 years of eligibility remaining. Trotter is the 4th player and 2nd LB to transfer to Missouri so far this offseason. Kevin Coleman Jr., Santana Banner, and Mikai Gbayor are the other players to transfer to Mizzou.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have seen 11 of their players enter the portal. The most notable Tiger to enter the portal was Williams Nwaneri, a former top prospect who recently announced his commitment to Nebraska.
