Mizzou lands legacy commitment from 2027 LB, brother of Cayden Green
Mizzou beefed up its linebacker room for the 2027 season, and it also kept a familiar name in the Tigers’ family going forward.
Three-star recruit Caleb Green told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Sunday night that he committed to Mizzou for next season. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker is the younger brother of current Tigers starting offensive tackle Cayden Green, so now head coach Eli Drinkwitz has another member of the in-state Green family in the fold for the 2027 season.
The younger Green is a current standout at Lee’s Summit North in Missouri, and he chose Mizzou over Tulsa and Missouri State. Iowa State and UCF also made notable offers to Green, but he has decided to stay in the state and play for the program where his big brother now stars.
Green had a spectacular junior season last fall at Lee’s Summit North, leading the team with 14.5 tackles per game and 2.5 sacks per contest. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Green is rated as the 796th overall prospect in the Class of 2027. He’s also currently the 65th-best linebacker in the class and the 12th-ranked player from the state of Missouri, according to those 247Sports Composite rankings.
He’s now the 8th overall commit for Drinkwitz’s 2027 recruiting class and already the 4th in-state product that Drinkwitz has brought in.
That 2027 recruiting class at Mizzou is already shaping up pretty well, with the 247Sports Composite rankings currently having the class rated 22nd in the country.
This latest Green can’t help Mizzou’s cause until the 2027 season, but the Tigers will be trying to contend for an SEC title in 2026 without him. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the odds for the top SEC teams in the mix to be holding that trophy in December:
