Sam Horn is officially a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

Jim Callis of MLB.com revealed Sunday evening that Horn has signed with the Dodgers after being selected in the 17th round of the MLB Draft. Horn is getting just under $500,000 from the Dodgers, but is still set to be a member of the Mizzou football team in 2025.

Horn is entering his 4th year at Mizzou, but he has seen little regular-season action for the Tigers as a football or baseball player. On the gridiron, he has played in only 4 career games. As a pitcher, he has recorded 15 innings over 3 seasons.

In February 2024, Horn injured his UCL and missed both the baseball and football seasons after having Tommy John surgery. He returned to the MU baseball team in 2025 and is competing for the starting QB job with the football team.

“Sam has been adamant this whole time that his goal is to compete, to try to win the job in the SEC and play quarterback at the highest level,” Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz said at SEC Media Days on July 17.

Horn and Penn State transfer Beau Pribula are seen as the top contenders to be Mizzou’s QB1. On Sunday, Drinkwitz added that it’s too early to rule out highly touted freshman Matt Zollers.
