Mizzou is like every team in college football right now in that the Tigers are looking to keep as many players from entering the transfer portal as possible. With the portal to officially open on Friday, the madness that has become college football is about to start.
The Tigers got good news earlier on Thursday when running back Jamal Roberts announced he was staying to form one of the best rushing duos in all of college football with Ahmad Hardy. However, it wasn’t good news when it came to cornerback Shamar McNeil, as he announced on social media that he would be leaving Columbia.
“I wanna say thank you to the University of Missouri coaches and staff for the opportunity,” McNeil posted on social media. “You believed in me when it mattered most and I’m forever grateful.”
The sophomore from Florida had only three tackles in his three seasons at Missouri, while also having a fumble recovery and a pass defended.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he was a 3-star recruit in the 2023 class. He was the No. 101 cornerback in the class, and chose the Tigers over other schools such as NC State, Wisconsin and Temple among others.
