Mizzou will wear a helmet sticker that reads ‘DJ’ to honor freshman offensive lineman Johnnie “DJ” Jones this weekend.
Earlier this week, Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz announced that Jones was in need of a heart transplant after doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville found a “significant issue.”
On Thursday morning, the program announced that Jones had received the transplant and that his surgery went well.
Now, Mizzou, will attempt to turn its attention to Texas A&M in Week 6 while donning these helmet stickers in support of their teammate:

Here’s what Drinkwitz said on social media after the transplant surgery was confirmed:
“Please continue to keep DJ, his family, the donor family, and his caregivers in your prayers as he begins the recover process,” the statement reads in-part.
Jones was a 4-star prospect in the class of 2026. The heart issue was discovered during medical testing after he arrived on campus earlier this year, according to Drinkwitz.
Mizzou and Texas A&M will kick off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon in Columbia.
