Molly McGrath departs ESPN’s college football coverage for NFL role, per report

ESPN’s Molly McGrath will no longer be part of ESPN’s college football coverage, instead moving on to a role with the network’s NFL package.
That’s according to a report from Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports. Glasspiegel obtained a statement from McGrath confirming the move.
“I’m thrilled to expand my role within ESPN’s NFL coverage and for the opportunity to showcase a broader range of skills, from sideline reporting to hosting in studio, while diving deeper into the sport at the highest level,” McGrath said in a statement to Front Office Sports.
Per the report, McGrath is expected to be sideline reporter for games broadcast on NFL Network, which ESPN acquired earlier this year. McGrath will also fill in for Laura Rutledge on NFL Live when needed.

McGrath has been at ESPN since 2016 and was most recently the sideline reporter for one of the network’s top college football broadcasting crews alongside play-by-play man Sean McDonough and analyst Greg McElroy. It’s not yet clear who will replace McGrath on that crew.
ESPN’s college football slate will begin on Aug. 29 with a game between North Carolina and TCU in Dublin, Ireland.
